UPDATE: In less than a year the starter motor died. If the jeep starts at all, it takes about 20 key cycles to start the engine. I contacted the seller and couldn't get a replacement - I ended up buying a different starter (TYC brand) and it worked great. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L V8. Installing it on a V8 engine is not the easiest task. After trying various ways to access the starter, I finally jacked up the jeep's body and placed racks under the frame rails next to the front forearms, this gave me enough room to use 1-2 feet long. Extensions and universal joints to unscrew the two bolts holding the old starter motor to the engine. Some YouTube videos will ask you to remove one of the wishbones. I would recommend "not" doing this as it can be difficult to align the control arm and reinstall the bolt once you are done. Installation wasn't much more difficult than removal. About this DB Electric Starter: The photos show that it is slightly larger (longer) than the factory unit by about 1 inch. It doesn't matter if you install it, just something to be aware of. Once installed it seems to be a great starter and ignites as soon as you start the car. I will try to update this review in the future. but for now I'm quite happy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because one of the threaded mounting screw holes was torn off during installation. Pay attention to the torque when installing a new one, because the materials are not as strong as the original starter (at torque according to specification).
