The standard cheap extruders that came with my FlyingBear Tornado 2 had trouble pushing/pulling filament through 800mm Bowden tubes, even after replacing the standard tubes with very good Capricorn tubes. After reviewing various options, I settled on Bondtech. I wanted a ready-made solution that was tested. Many people seem to have had good luck with cloning, but some have not. As with any extruder replacement, DO NOT wait for a replacement without a replacement. I had to solve 2 questions.1. It mounts perfectly in place of a standard extruder (Mk.8?) without a gear. The instructions say the drive has to be mounted with the fixed end of the screw closest to the motor and it just won't work. The set screw interferes with the extruder gear. The drive gear should be mounted with the loose end of the auger closest to the motor unless there is thick material between the motor and the extruder. On my printer the motor was on the opposite side of the 2mm thick steel and the gearbox still needed to be reversed which was recommended. I'm assuming the Bondtech mount is 3mm thick which explains the difference.2. Since my previous extruder didn't have a gear drive, adding a gear to the gearbox meant that the direction of rotation of the motor was now reversed. You have several options when you find this happening. a) Change the motor direction flag in your firmware; b) change the wiring to the motor; c) Turn Bondtech upside down. I chose option C as it worked well to attach the bowden hose to what Bondtech planned to be the inlet side. You will also need to reprogram the E-Steps setting in your firmware when finished to get the correct extrusion. my second day of use, but about 10 hours and two successful prints, am quite satisfied. I will update this review if my opinion changes.
