I've recently embraced the bullet journaling trend and have been trying different pens and pencils for my journal. I usually use Prismacolor pencils, but the lead is so soft that any intense colouring/drawing I did in my journal would carry over to the next page. I was happy to try these pens and even happier to say they work great. I have a "Calm" collection that consists of 12 colored pencils, an eraser, and a no-frills manual sharpener. Outside of the box, none of the pencils are sharpened, so you have to decide whether to sharpen them all at once or as needed. Initially I just sharpened the colors as I used them, but I've gone back and made sure they're all sharp. The included sharpener is a small metal version that sharpens pencils to perfection. I would have liked it more if the sharpener had a container for chips, but I didn't pick up a sharpener kit. When I try the sand eraser on both light and dark colors and it erases the colors, it leaves a lot of eraser dust and also changes the surface of my magazine paper noticeably. So back to the pens, the pens are smooth and feel good in the hand. The color of the tip is very close to the color of the lead. The lead is hard so it can be sharpened to a sharp point and it holds the point much longer than a soft pencil. The cedar pencil case and all the tips are properly centered in the body, so the pencils are always sharpened evenly, whether you use a manual or electric sharpener. I've used these 12 colors extensively in my bullet journal and have had no problem transferring the color to other pages. I have already ordered another color family of these pens and have made them my go-to pens for both my bullet journal and coloring books.
