Review on πŸ“¦ High-Performance 55 lb. Digital Postal Shipping & Kitchen Scale by UltraShip by David Cash

Big scale. Just make sure you don't get a melody.

Very accurate and reliable scale. I mainly use them to weigh lighter items but have also weighed larger boxes and they have a detachable display which is very handy when it would otherwise be covered by the box. I originally ordered this scale a few years ago in addition to the power supply. It never read properly (always flickering) so I tossed it in a corner and forgot about it. I was going to throw it away for good this year, but I looked online and found that the flickering issue was due to a bad power supply or bad batteries (it could be powered by any of them). I didn't have the AC adapter anymore (don't know what happened to it) so I went to get new batteries. Plugged it in and *voila* no more flickering. Unfortunately, the block itself turned out to be defective and weighed half what it was supposed to be. So it seemed time to throw it away again as I assumed it was out of warranty. Then I noticed that the guarantee was actually lifetime so I contacted myweigh for a return authorization. Unfortunately there is no free shipping, but the support team was knowledgeable and helpful, and after a couple of weeks I received a new/repaired/replaced/whatever. This device has been running stably for 4 months without any problems. In general, when you have problems, the first thing you should do is get new batteries. They last almost forever and in my opinion are more reliable than the power supplies you can buy for them (at least in my experience). If you're still getting flickering or inaccurate readings after this, you probably have a defective unit and should contact myweigh for a warranty replacement. One thing is worth mentioning. If you ever calibrate, be sure to use water or something similar in a container so you can get the exact weight you need to calibrate. Using this scale made me realize how inaccurate the old analog scales were, in addition to the fact that dumbbell weights can vary significantly (so I wouldn't trust using a scale to calibrate). The old analog scales measured the same weight for each ring, although some were slightly less and some slightly more than the specified weight. This is an excellent scale and a very worthwhile purchase. I used to use an analogue and there were cases when the weight was lost by mail. Since I've been using this one I've never had it again. It is just as accurate as the postage.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Clarity

Excellent scale. Just make sure you don't receive a dud.
