Very happy with the quality of these pliers. Despite being called "water pump pliers" I've used them for so many repairs, not just plumbing. Anything that requires pliers that can block or have a good grip on any screw or whatever you need to remove. If you know what channel lock pliers are, they're pretty much the same except they don't open as wide. The jaws of these pliers are really good for grabbing anything. I like that the heads are narrow enough to get into hard-to-reach places. Easy to set up and attach, very firm hold. We live in a village on about nine acres of wooded land. There are always things in the country that need fixing. Of course, we ran into the problem of one of the water pump motors burning out. This is Ruth Berry's old pump and those pliers were great. We had to turn the engine off but also loosen the screw on top to add water and top up. It took a while to fill out, but it worked. They seem to have a little play (suction) compared to some water pump pliers, so it's worth keeping that in mind. In addition, some type of chemical that can cause cancer is used in the handles. They don't mention what the chemical is (it's usually some type of plastic that California doesn't condone), which worries me a bit. Either way, just wash your hands well after using them. If you have ever worked with the Knipex brand, all I can say is that Knipex makes the best pliers. But you also pay more money for it. This set is pretty good - for what it's worth. If you can afford to throw away an extra thirty or forty dollars, then get a three-piece Knipex set. If you are on a budget or want to buy them as a budget gift for someone, get Sunex.
