It's awkward to plug and unplug the phone, but taking photos works well. I bought it to protect my phone during a trip to Hawaii. I ended up being too nervous to take it snorkeling, but after getting a little off the beach I dunked it a few feet underwater to photograph the coral. I also tried to catch sea lions but they were too fast. I used it in the hot tub to take photos of friends. I don't think it can replace an underwater camera on a snorkeling trip, but for boating or whitewater rafting (or hot tubs) where unexpected phone submersion can be an issue, I think it would be great. Not once was there a hint of moisture inside the case after using it in water. Of course, it also protects against sand, which is a great advantage on the beach.
