It took some experimentation to figure out where to move the needle in relation to the prongs of the foot to get either a 1/4" or a skinny 1/4". Seams for sewing a patchwork quilt. This was very helpful in creating 1/2 square triangles with seams on either side of the marked diagonal center line. I use this foot more than the 1/4" side edge foot. The foot looks solid - the same quality as the feet that come with my Janome machines.
