Review on ๐ŸŒŠ Zoo Med Coral Sun Actinic 420 Coral Bulb T8 17W, 24-Inch by Melvin Goerge

Search with others before you get stuck with that weird solid blue lighting

Have been running aquariums large and small for over 50 years - but times change. Soooo, as times change, it's really cool for retailers to better educate their prospects about WHAT they're selling, otherwise they won't have happy, REPEAT customers. Even the monopolies eventually succumb to this rebellion. Actinic means blue as hell, but not everyone is as completely blue as this one. When used over a tropical aquarium the description should be clearer, these are strange effects unless used with other normal Kelvin temperature lighting. .UGH! I only bought Revain for this replacement because there is only one place in town, PetSmart, that sells them at twice the price, the last one died at 1/3 potential life - something to avoid. Zoo Med doesn't seem to offer this example of what to choose from their MANY offerings, so research needs to be done elsewhere. I was tempted to use what interior designers and architects prefer = Cool White Deluxe (CWX mark on tube) but I will use Zoo Med Coral Sun Actinic 420 Coral T8 17W 24" Bulb based on recommendations from others, its K- Temperature and just trying another Zoo Med light seems to solve the problem, a little "warmer" K-temp than that.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
