Seems to work in my application (homemade winder). Interestingly, it seems to work whether batteries are installed or not (there doesn't seem to be an "off" - definitely not an off button, and the indicator is lit whether batteries are installed or not). There are no instructions, the battery compartment is difficult to open. It would be nice if it could be powered by a "wall wart" power supply. Maybe the power isn't needed - again, the instructions wouldn't hurt.
