This calcium test kit is similar to other test kits as it consists of adding the solution drop by drop until the liquid changes color. This is tedious and error-prone. But on the other hand, it's accurate and not too difficult. They take a water sample. In this case 5 ml, less than in some other tests. Then add solution 1 and shake. Add solution 2 and shake. Add a drop of Solution 3 and shake. Repeat with single drops of Solution 3 until the color of the liquid changes from light pink to purple. The color change isn't dramatic, but should be obvious. I just wish there were more affordable and simple solutions to monitoring aquarium water. Many of the "simpler" solutions are much more expensive. Therefore, for the time being, I will continue to use such options. And I'm glad this calcium kit actually gives accurate results compared to other LFS test kits.
