Review on Sony Multi Region 3D Blu Ray DVD Player with Dual Voltage – Upgraded Version, Including 6 Feet HDMI Cable by Mike Gruwell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It works very simply with DVDs of different regions

For some reason before buying it I didn't notice that the device was reissued by Bombay Electronics and is not sold as a multi-region player Sony. I don't know what it does with the warranty but it works as advertised. Changing DVDs is very easy. It simply plays any disc from any region. Switching from Blu-ray is a bit more complicated and there is a single-sided printed sheet that tells you how to do it. As others have pointed out, it's important to stick to the instructions, especially if you don't usually play multi-region Blu-rays. I also use WiFi. I moved my Roku to a different TV instead of keeping it on the same switch. It works fine with both devices connected, but it didn't turn on automatically and I figured having two streaming devices on the same TV was redundant. I enter my username and passwords for Netflix, Hulu, Revain Video and the Berlin Philharmonic and everything works fine. Berlin Phil buffers a bit but I don't think it's a problem with the Sony unit. I like the small size and the picture is good. Before I bought this unit, I set my computer's DVD drive to region 2 and connected my computer to my TV via HDMI. I think the picture on the Sony player is better and definitely brighter.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • poorly thought out
