We have bought several coats and coat harness combos but they seem to be mostly for small dogs. We bought two, 3XL and 4XL, just in case. The 3 XL is a great fit for Neptune, who weighs about 40 pounds, has a chest height of 26 inches, and measures 23 inches from shoulder blades to tail (not counting tail). The coat is adjustable and appears to be well tailored, with a thickness that should keep it warm and a slight reflection in the colored area. You can always adjust the harness a bit to loosen or tighten it for small or large chested dogs. It's important that it fits snugly, otherwise there will be too much space between the belly and the fur, which can affect urine flow. We love the fact that it's easier to just slip on than a sweater/coat + harness.
