Review on 🐟 HOTOOLME Aquarium Algae Scraper: 25.6" Stainless Steel Cleaning Razor with 10 Blades for Glass Fish Tanks by Devin Pishey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

He did a fantastic job with some really stubborn algae.

As always, I paid full price for this item and have nothing to do with it or anyone selling it. I'm just a consumer who likes to write reviews every now and then in case it helps someone. I'm just saying. The reason I gave it 4 stars for ease of use is because the screws holding the blade are very small and make my big ole fingers uncomfortable. I kept dropping her on the floor and had to catch her on all fours. Eventually I learned to sit down at the table with the cake pan beneath me and finally got the job done. I'm sure I'll get better at it in the coming months, but it's been tough for an old nut like me. That minor complaint aside, I'm very happy with my new cleaner. Just learn from my mistake and sit down at a table with a cake tin and good lighting before you even try. I recently switched from fluorescent to LED lighting in 3 out of 4 of my aquariums and it has resulted in green algae blooms like never before. never experienced it and I have been running aquariums for over 50 years. NO magnetic cleaner or sponge will touch this and I've tried a great many of them. It must have something to do with the spectrum of light emitted by the LEDs causing algae, which I'm not familiar with. It is green, but feels like sandpaper and cannot be removed by conventional means. It got so bad I couldn't even see my fish. I put a plecostomus in an aquarium and they couldn't even handle it. I seriously began to wonder if I should discard all the settings and just start over. Then I gave in and bought this shaving cleaner. And WOW, great work! My tanks were back in top shape in no time. I was afraid of scratches on the glass, but that wasn't a problem. Also, one of my tanks is very deep and this scraper is long enough to reach the bottom and still works well at that depth. Unfortunately, unless I spend big and go back to fluorescent lighting, I think I'll be addicted to this new way of aquarium cleaning. But at least this tool makes things a lot easier. If you have a similar problem with algae in a glass aquarium, you need this tool. However, I would say that you have to be careful around the edges not to strip the silicone. I didn't really have a problem with it, but I knew it and was careful. Much luck!
