Review on πŸšͺ Effortless Stairway Gate Installation Kit (K12) by KidCo: Secure Your Home with Ease by Tiara Andrews

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great idea, poor execution

The idea behind the gate, assembly without having to screw it into the finished wooden railing, is great. The problem is they only provide half of the kit. By half I mean they provide enough hardware to install either the hinge or latch side of the gate, not both sides. I didn't know about this when I ordered so I went back to Revain to spend another $40. Had I known I would need two kids and over $80 to do what I need, I probably would have gone for a different solution. Other reviews complain about "drilling" or that the kit says no drilling is required. I'm not sure what they were expecting or what they are used to, but every time you mount something permanent or semi-permanent, a pilot hole for the screws usually needs to be pre-drilled somewhere. Based on the manufacturer's "no drilling" claim, I would say they are correct since you are not drilling into finished wood railings. As for some of the other reviews that say they would rather use zip ties to secure the baby gate. For real? Zippers for attaching child gates to the top of the stairs. It was the same reviews that talked about how unsafe this product is. Find out. As far as security goes, I think it's as secure as the gate you're using. Nothing can be 100% failsafe. Others have also complained about the length of the screws. The kit appears to be made for plastic components that are slightly thicker in composition. A little common sense when using a generic type set goes a long way. Check the length of the screws for the application you are using them for. Aside from only getting half of what you need I would give this one 5 STARS. For that it gets 2.5 stars from me.
