I am a professional researcher at heart, so when I delve into a subject I delve deep and do not ascend until I have exhausted the field. Right, here's what I made out of polymer clay. I think: If I'm going to spend a lot of money on tools and accessories, I'll study this topic so I can understand technically what's what. As with most artistic mediums, success and high-quality results depend on the artist/craftsman's understanding of technical issues. That's where Donna Cato comes into my life (so to speak). I bought Kato's first book, The Art of Polymer Clay. and was struck by the depth and breadth (underline the latter) of the subtopics presented. Your writing and step-by-step explanations are presented clearly but without being overly pedantic. The accompanying illustrations describe the methods discussed in detail and do not skip the important step that decides between success and failure. Some writers aren't very good at editing their own work, and when such omissions happen, it drives me crazy. Based on my experience with her first book, I purchased Kato's The Art of Polymer Clay: Creative Surface Effects and again was not disappointed. (Remember my expectations were high at this point). This book is an excellent tool. With the help of Kato, and admittedly with the help of another highly qualified author.
