They are thinner than expected, which may be a problem for some users and useful for others. They are about 1/8 inch wide. I bought these for the bold colors that are easy to see for a person with a red/green tint as opposed to the broader pastels of Menards. Solid 4 stars due in part to the shades used. When you need strength, just buy black from the store in the size and length you need, no ordering required. I used them to identify my gas cartridges so I could note what mix and how long the gas was in them.
