Translucent insulation. Looks good and feels good too. The other viewers were right about not wanting to bend when pulled - bonus! One thing that struck me is the thickness of the copper cable. It doesn't look like real 12AWG, but it doesn't look like flimsy 14AWG either. I've seen thicker cables. Not the end of the world. Thickness aside, it's made of copper, not CCA, which is what I was looking for. I made a small cut with wire cutters and examined it carefully with a magnifying glass and found no trace of aluminum in the core. For what I need it for, it will do its job perfectly. Purpose: Bi-amp wiring for front channels, 7 feet per channel (2 for left and 2 for right) with an impedance of 8 ohms. Wharfedale Diamond 225s loudspeaker. Is it worth the price? Yes I can provide an update after measuring the coil.
