5 years and everything is fine

5 years later it still works great. These were fairly accurate readings from a 120-118V AC outlet, depending on what part of the house I'm checking. When the time comes, it becomes difficult to claim just a replacement battery or fuse.

Pros
  • Hands-free mode
Cons
  • Only available in black

Good price for tools and equipment

I would give two stars just because it's all worth it. My last Extech in 6 years was better than this one. I use this as a knock signal for general electrical work and it works great for that, but the continuity beep is clumsy. Nothing compares to my Fluke 87, there really is no comparison.

  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Negative gift

BAD BLOCK (multiple)

I bought one of these and before I knew it had residual AC signal I was out of the return window. Bought another one, had the exact same problem. Also, the packaging of the new device was sealed, so apparently someone understood this issue and sent the device back earlier. Don't waste your money on this counter, this company has terrible quality control.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Compatibility

Pretty good DMM

I like the large display and it's a good enough value for a true RMS meter. However, the meter turns off while you're using it, and unlike other meters that turn back on when you touch something, this meter requires you to turn off the range switch and then turn it back to the selected setting. The switch is quite narrow, requiring two hands to operate in most cases.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Negative

I need a manual range like this gauge as they read faster than not.

It's hard to find a quality non-autoranging flow meter at any price point. I need a manual range like this as they read faster as they don't have to spend time figuring out which range the counter should use. We had an Extech EX411 as our favorite meter and it recently fell badly and the display shattered. This purchase is an exact replacement and we are satisfied.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • So-so

Great product from Extech

The best multimeter I have ever used has a large LCD display, auto shut off to save battery and most importantly a temperature measurement feature that is easy to diagnose and maintain . Air conditioning in cars without using a separate thermometer. If you have used counters from other well known brands that are much more expensive and have fewer features, the Extech EX411 is a great product and purchase that comes highly recommended for professional or home use.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Hard to say

Worthless multimeters and analyzers

This multimeter looked promising, especially with the thermocouple input and large display. There's only one problem; it recalculates all values almost twice. I was about to return the 24vdc power supply I just bought because it said 40vdc. Then I got suspicious and checked other things with the meter. The wall outlet showed 190VAC, the AAA battery showed 2.5VDC, and my computer's 12V power line showed 16VDC. The resistance function often displays negative values and the tone does not work in…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Nice practical tool pocket counter for everyday use with auto shut off

I have been using this 411 meter for about 10 years and it continues to work well as a counter to keep in my tool bag at all times. The main problem with this is the auto-off feature, which is annoying and a bit dangerous. I work a lot with 480V circuits and if I try to find voltage readings and then do something in between I can go back to what I was doing and it still reads voltage but then NOTHING and it is may not be clear what he did. Automatic shutdown trick. Why disconnect if it's been…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
