First my use case: I have a computer on which I recently installed Pop!_OS 19.04 (an Ubuntu based Linux distribution) and I connected the printer to my local wireless network via WPS . , step-by-step installation of the driver from the CD. I was about to think about installing a driver when I found that my printer was automatically recognized and ready to use. The printer appears to be using the IPP Everywhere open communication standard, for which I am grateful to Pantum, as the proprietary standards for common hardware are terrible. This printer is fast. My previous consumer laser printers were significantly slower than this one, at least for single-sided printing. This is my first printer to support automatic two-sided printing, which is very convenient compared to the manual two-sided printing I've done in the past. Enabling duplex printing was as simple as selecting the appropriate option in Page Setup on my PC; It's good to see that this feature is also supported on Linux. The attached image is a test page that I printed with this printer and then scanned with an attached scanner. I saved the scanned image to a USB flash drive, but if I ran into the problem of setting up an FTP server on my PC, I could just automatically send the images to the FTP storage. I haven't tried it, but there is a way. In any case, the ability to save scanned documents to a USB device is completely platform independent and this is also very useful. Although I haven't printed many pages with this printer, I'm sure I will have it for at least five years. As I can't comment on reliability or durability yet, I may return to this later to revise my review. Anyway, I'm impressed that so many features are now available at such a low price. A small note: To prepare a toner cartridge for first use, a piece of plastic tape must be pulled from the cartridge. This ribbon is coated with toner and when you touch it, you have the toner on your hands. This is not a serious problem, but keep this in mind when installing toner.
