Not for high amp trolling motors

Warning for users of 50-55 lb trolling motors. Thrust. While the wire gauge of these connector kits can handle the amperage of a heavy duty motor at 100% operation, the problem lies with the connector connections. Over time they start to oxidize as they are not nickel plated and this surface oxidation layer creates a resistance which generates heat. I survived about a year off this connector before the heat started warping the plastic and I started having intermittent connections. My solution to disconnecting your trolling motor circuit from the battery while charging is to use a 60A manual circuit breaker. Not an automatic Minn Kota as you need to be able to manually turn the switch off before charging the battery to avoid feeding power back to the trolling motor. That might be fine for the smaller ones, but if you're drawing 55 amps at full load you'll need to replace this one for the same reason I did.

  • Rugged Surface
Cons
