You are not working! - Boating

Plug and socket in description are offered as "buy together" DO NOT GO TOGETHER! Atwood doesn't answer. Just a very annoying "we're busy" loop every 5 seconds. Don't buy these plugs thinking they will work together!

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Good quality product for my John boat

I bought both a fitting and an electric motor fitting for my new John boat. Easy to install and works great. My fishing buddy did the same but used the connectors for Scotty's electric downrigger and it cost him four times as much.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Perfect for my 55 lb trolling motor

Perfect for my 55 lb Minn Kota Endura trolling motor. It fits perfectly in the outlet built into my Bass Hound 9ft 4in boat. It came with ferrules that worked very well. I added heat shrink tubing around the motor wire connection for extra waterproof protection.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Plastic is melting on prongs

It has been three months since installation, I just noticed that it has started to melt on the prongs. I'm not sure if his product failed or if it just overheated. I use the recommended 8 AWG silicone wire connected directly to the battery with a disconnect switch and heat shrink tubing. I'm not sure why it can't run at low speeds from 2 gears on a 55lb thrust bow engine.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Repair

Works for my old city AP120

I made a wire harness for my 50Ah LiFeP04 FF spare battery so if my main 100Ah battery died I could just connect the DIY wire harness to my backup -Connect battery and then can plug in the old town plug that connects to the autopilot trolling motor. Neither Old Town nor the Minnkot sold it as an accessory, so I bought this connector to make my own pendant. I keep it in a zippered pocket in my kayak box in case I ever need it.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Older model

The perfect replacement for the Attwood 8-gauge 2-wire fork. Fits snugly in the nest and has a good design. This will NOT mate with the MotorGuide connector. Notch and pin orientation are completely different between the two brands. Revain also sells the MotorGuide plug and socket. Atwood's notch is vertically oriented 25-30 degrees offset relative to the pins. The MotorGuide notch is horizontal in relation to the pins.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Secret

This is NOT a connector - do not use this Attwood connection system!

Contrary to the Revain packaging and description, this is a FEMALE connector. From the looks of it, Attwood just went insane marketing this product. This "engine-side" plug plugs into an Attwood 14366-6 "boat-side" receptacle that has prongs that protrude and open as soon as you lift the door (Attwood calls this equivalent receptacle "female" but it is grounded ). and a protruding hot pin - i.e. male pins). This design is insane and poses a VERY DANGEROUS electric shock and short circuit…

Pros
  • Great fit for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Not for high amp trolling motors

Warning for users of 50-55 lb trolling motors. Thrust. While the wire gauge of these connector kits can handle the amperage of a heavy duty motor at 100% operation, the problem lies with the connector connections. Over time they start to oxidize as they are not nickel plated and this surface oxidation layer creates a resistance which generates heat. I survived about a year off this connector before the heat started warping the plastic and I started having intermittent connections. My solution…

Pros
  • Rugged Surface
Cons
  • Damaged
