Buyer's regret

The filter elements are wonderful. I will always be loyal to the Doulton/Royal Berkefield filter element brands. BUT I have serious buyer regrets about the filter housing. And it's not even about the body itself. It's the glue they used to stick the sticker on, as well as the ridiculously thin plastic sleeve. The spigot can be replaced with a good quality stainless steel spigot for $10-15, so it's not that bad. I knew the bushing would be plastic and that I would eventually replace it. But I didn't expect the bushing to be so weak that I feel I need to replace it immediately. This thin tube is likely to break or fail soon. It's so weak that the buyer will likely feel that the company has gone out of its way to offend buyers with it. They stick a sticker on the body, just above the nozzle. I knew the sticker would be there but figured I could peel it off and wipe off the adhesive. The decal looks unsightly and will obviously fray and get dirty over time so no one wants to leave it there. The sticker came off fairly easily, but the glue stuck really strong to the stainless steel. They used a permanent adhesive that sticks better to metal than paper. It won't be cleaned up. Usually, hot water will remove the glue with a small amount of scraper. But that stuff they used won't come off. And stay sticky! Looks terrible and dirt will collect on it. I tried hot water. I've tried hot water and baking soda. I tried it with 30% vinegar. Tacky Glue seems to have decided to stay. I'm not a fan of super clean, but I like my stainless steel to look sharp. I wouldn't buy this again. I just wanted to buy the filter elements and make the filter housing out of cullet, but I also like stainless steel. In my opinion, this filter housing is just not worth it because it is impossible to get the dirt from the stickers out of it. I can't express how stupid I felt of them ruining a pristine stainless steel surface like that. I would have been happy with my purchase if my beautiful stainless steel hadn't been smeared with indelible dirt. I will never look at him and not be angry. It filters the water very well. For those of you who have never used these filter elements before, this is the type that you will want to pour water into at night before bed as it takes several hours to filter the water. It is very good. The filter housing can be made from any container in which a 16mm diameter hole can be drilled. I don't see any reason to pay big bucks for nice and shiny stainless steel that has a sticky residue that cannot be removed.
