The description always emphasized that the jacket runs small and prefers the chest measurement to others. My dog is only 33 pounds but has a deep chest (23 inches) and a small waist (16 inches). I bought the XL based on her chest but the velcro is in the CENTER of her torso and not on her chest. So she's a bit loose on most of her torso so I need to make the velcro as tight as possible. But she really likes it and it doesn't come off when she walks. Jacket at the back of the collar. If your dog is barrel shaped it doesn't matter, but if you have a wasp-waisted speed demon it matters WHERE you measure your chest. very pleased to know that this is more of a fleece lined raincoat. It is very well made and will withstand rain. The reflective lines on the side are also high quality. Very nicely made jacket! Correction to the original review: I bought a second vest for a much smaller dog. It is identical in quality and detail to the larger one which is good to see as it has been almost a year since my last purchase and it is small. I really like that the velcro is just as strong and adjustable because I still have to adjust to my larger dog's waist (as mentioned she has a deep chest but a wasp waist) but I suppose I will have to adapt to a smaller a dog (a barrel-shaped animal that loves its food).
