I thought the switch was defective because the red light did not light up when it was switched on. Found that the red power light only works when the white light on the switch is on because the dash lights are on. If I had known that, I would not have bought this switch. I think the normal thinking is that the red light 'on' activates without the dash/headlights turning on. Wiring according to instructions. It is a pity that the manufacturer or seller did not mark this function.
