I ordered a set of 4 (four) and ended up using them as extra reversing lights (2 on the jeep and one for each two cars in the family). We live at the end of a cul-de-sac at the top of the hill, and there are no streetlights in our county; I needed to see what was behind the car when backing off the road after dark (since most cars made in the last 20 years have useless reverse lights; they're more intended to let others know that you about to reverse than illuminate the area and help you see what's behind you). At the same time, I needed lamps that would be narrow, flat, and glow similar to some fog lights (illuminating the road in a relatively narrow but wide band) so I could see through the side mirrors. I've had it installed for over 6 months now and am very happy with it. The lamps offer a combination of spot and flood light; Set them too low and you may not have enough downward adjustment to get a properly lit area. Pointing them slightly upwards will make them too bright and dazzling for other people on the road (whether on foot or in the car) and won't do you much good. I've installed them under the rear bumper of our cars by drilling a hole in the back wall of the spare tire well (which is offset slightly to the left but gives more taillight on the driver's side). I chose this location for two reasons: to protect the spare tire well light (under the trunk) from being hit by road debris or bumps, and to cut upward glare by shielding the top of the light beam. from the bottom of the rear bumper. On the Jeep I installed 2 of these under the drawbar by drilling and tapping holes in the bottom of the cross square tube. They are each directed slightly to the side, thus expanding the side view illumination provided by the exterior mirrors, since the rear window is tinted and does not provide a view of the area behind the car at a distance of 25-30 feet. NOTE: The actual mechanical installation of these lamps is complex and requires planning, time and a lot of patience. It is not for the inexperienced or for people who lack mechanical skills and patience. Fat fingers (like mine) didn't help either. However, I still have stamina. Aligning the lamps after installation is another important step. I went to the hardware store (lamp in hand) and bought some stainless steel washers (to put them on either side of the bracket) and some (plastic) lock nuts to make sure the bulbs don't loosen and move down. (due to their weight and vibration). I fully tighten the nuts at the end of the aiming process with a longer hex wrench (than the one that came in the kit). Using a T-handle hex wrench (to tighten the screw) would be the best option! If I have time, I'll take some pictures and post them for viewing.
