Review on Renewable Lubricants Bio Power Summer Conditioner by Eric Pavelko

Ideal for TDI. or any diesel. It is then better to add biodiesel.

I've used this in my 2013 VW Golf MKVI 2.0l TDI DSG since I got it - my first diesel car. It was Sert. Used with approx. 5,000 miles now 41.5,000. I don't know what type/grade of fuel the previous owner used or if they used diesel fuel additives. The consensus on the online forum with most TDI owners and diesel owners in general recommends using a fuel additive. After researching all the 'chemical' diesel additives (i.e. Stanadyne, Opti-Lube, etc.) including the addition of biodiesel (which is my favorite and ranked first on the Spicer Test '07 list), I came to concluded that organic starch was the best/only choice for a number of reasons; mainly because it's a BIOBASE product, plus it's a concentrated formula that has more cleaning and protective abilities than biodiesel (see RLI extract below). So in addition to using only ULSD @ Shell #2 Top Tier Diesel and other stations, I only need to add 1 oz/cap (14.2/gal) Bio-Power for maintenance treatment - that's 32 fills/8-12. Months with this 1 liter bottle. That's about $0.55 per tank of gas compared to spending time and gas to find the nearest biodiesel gas station (nearest B20 gas station is 40 miles away) and adding enough to make a B2 fuel blend (2% ) (the highest percentage recommended by VW). ) @ $3-4 per gallon. Makes biological sense, doesn't it? Especially given today's low diesel prices. Regardless, the benefits of using bio-power far outweigh the cost or no additives at all to have an engine running after 100,000+ miles. I would love to run the B100/SVO with the new CR CJAA TDI engine and get much closer to a fully bio-based vehicle (but that would require some costly modifications). So for now you'll have to settle for bio-power (along with their oil - see below). In any case, the engine ran smooth, quiet, responsive and clean, with better than expected fuel economy (easily 40+ mpg on HWY at 65-75 mph and up to 45-50 mpg average at times). Note: I also changed the fuel filter at 10,000 miles just in case, and at 20,000 and 40,000 scheduled maintenance (40,000 done myself). Very clean look at the latest change. No bubbles, dirt or metal in the fuel filter/can. I also highly recommend using their renewable lubricants 85343 Bio SynXtra HD Plus Super High Performance Motor Oil SAE 5W40 Low Ash, 1 Gallon Here is an excerpt of an email exchange with RLI VP regarding Bio-Power; "First and foremost, Bio-Power Summer Diesel Fuel Conditioner is a highly concentrated formula containing anti-wear/lubricant, antioxidant, anti-corrosion, detergent/dispersant (cleaning) additives. From 1 gallon to 2,000 gallons of fuel it is only 0.05% and from 1 gallon to 1,000 gallons of fuel it is only 0.1%. Effect. Tested down to 0.2% to provide benefits. Even if you accidentally withdraw (a reasonable amount) it's not harmful, but there comes a point where you can't return your money (withdrawal isn't cost-effective). Biodiesel with a processing rate of 0.5 to 1.0% increases lubricity but does not contain the additional anti-wear, antioxidant, anti-corrosion, detergent/dispersant (cleaning) additives that Bio-Power protection provides . Bio-Power is proven to put money in your pocket, offers proven fuel economy, longer fuel filter life and engine protection that cannot be duplicated with biodiesel. Biodiesel does not come close to the performance of Bio-Power. The EPA allows us to set requirements for bio-power that cannot be met with just biodiesel and/or diesel fuel.”
