This is the biggest scam. These things don't last forever, but this company has committed to programming a product expiration date. The instructions say it's best to replace it after five years of *use*, but the device will stop working five years after the date of manufacture. Take one that's been on the shelf for a year (like me) and it only lasts four years before it starts squeaking evilly. You can delay the beep for 72 hours in the first month. After a month there is no other way to close this than to delete it. My advice: look for another brand that doesn't try to enforce a predetermined and early replacement date.
