Review on Nuance Dragon USB Headset - Voice 🎧 Control for PC, Dictate Documents, and More [PC Disc] by Todd Atherton

I bought a used reconditioned one or what?

First, understand that mine may have been "used" (er, I put it in my ear. I didn't see any trash in it, though). I was under the impression that I either accidentally received a defective return or the technology is outdated and the drivers are not fully compatible with Windows 8.1. no retail packaging) and a one page very basic fine print instructions that didn't tell me anything I couldn't guess so I wouldn't really trust them to begin with. This is not an impressive package. It worked for about 15 minutes and as soon as I tried to tweak something with the sound button in the taskbar all sorts of sounds went wrong. Functions appeared and disappeared, the echo went away, and I couldn't hear anything through my browser or system sounds. I've done almost nothing but look at the parameters, which means something is wrong with the software and/or the product. When calibrating from the start, the Dragon software alerted me that the mic wasn't hearing me well. THAT was another bad sign. Commands and voice recognition worked, but it's hard to trust software that tells you it's in trouble. I won't try to fix it myself at this price - any mic will do. If you need Bluetooth I would buy one that you know will work with your PC or Mac. FYI I'm using an MS Surface Pro 3 (new, max configuration) and although the tablet is on a stand about a meter away from me. That's right, everything worked fine until I installed the Nuance 13 Bluetooth headset - the tablet mic seems fine. I think I'll just live with it for a while.
