The original stone was used to sharpen several wood chisels starting with a 2 inch planer blade. left on the rough side to sharpen and correct a bad angle. The seller was asked for advice and he immediately sent a new stone with no indication as to why it was wearing out so quickly. I use the TREND solution and an Atlin bevel guide with just one medium, the replacement stone didn't last more than 15 minutes and also developed a noticeable bald spot which made further attempts to sharpen and correct the angle unsuccessful. "Diamonds are forever!" Or are these cheap imitations just for sharpening kitchen knives that aren't that dull? It seems unwise to buy an expensive stone considering that 99+% of the time it just sits in a drawer.
