Warranty is useless, can't contact Sharpal Co. or Revain for a replacement.

I've used it for the first 6 months, I loved it. I am retired and my hobby is woodcarving. The Sharpal 156 N was great at helping my tools stay sharp initially. Then the side of the track became slicker and didn't work well. The smooth side began to peel off like dry paint. Now after about 6 months have passed. The side of the course is smooth in the middle and the smoother side peels off when I try to use it. This tool is garbage. I tried to find out about the 3 year warranty, the advert says…

Wears out quickly for power tools and hand tools

The original stone was used to sharpen several wood chisels starting with a 2 inch planer blade. left on the rough side to sharpen and correct a bad angle. The seller was asked for advice and he immediately sent a new stone with no indication as to why it was wearing out so quickly. I use the TREND solution and an Atlin bevel guide with just one medium, the replacement stone didn't last more than 15 minutes and also developed a noticeable bald spot which made further attempts to sharpen and…

I can't find anything not to like about it.

I have been hand sharpening since I was a child, I always wanted bigger, wider stones. I found out about bench stones but the cost has usually put me off investing in them (again) as I already had different grit diamond stones, not to mention other stones, sandpaper etc etc. This - It's great, especially when I bought it on sale, the price was very hard to miss. The base is great, very non-slip, the little rail is great when you're just learning to keep a constant angle and when you're done…

Money well spent, good for hand tools

I have several natural whetstones but I needed to sharpen the edge of my ceramic kitchen knives and that requires something much harder than regular stone. The Sharpal was a bit more expensive than I originally planned to spend, but after getting it I'm glad I spent the few extra bucks. Weighing almost 3 pounds, this is a piece of exercise equipment. This weight, as well as the rubberized base, keeps the stone really secure during use while still making it easy to carry. The grain difference is

The best pencil sharpener I've found in decades.

I've tried many sharpeners over the years. I have a Lansky set, I bought a set of credit card sized diamond sharpeners and I've had several different types of ceramic rods to name a few. I don't like water stones because they wear out, they need leveling and they make a huge mess, but every diamond sharpener and most oil stones I've tried had poor construction with the corners slightly above the surface, huh resulted in scratches. my blades. For the past 15 years, my main sharpening tool has…

Steel Eating Beast!

Model 8x3 purchased. Firstly, a very comfortable weight. When you pick up this thing, just KNOW it means business. I like the case/holder too. I only sharpen by hand, not on a bench, so I really want as much thickness as possible so my fingertips don't get in the way of the blade. This holder does just that, and I love that it doubles as a cover to keep out lint, hair, and more. The hinge is a real hinge with a pin, not just flimsy flexible plastic that will wear and break over time. "The space

It's hard and it does the job. Enough.

To be honest I was skeptical until he got his hands on it and has literally sharpened every knife I own. Any knife fanatic knows that finding a quality diamond sharpening stone is an ordeal. Nine times out of ten you're lucky if you can get a pair of pocket knives and a fixed blade before the only good thing the damn thing is good for is a paperweight. It's not just cheap junk that's often disappointing. From the complaints I've seen, and there are MANY, even some well-known diamond sharpening…
