Used on our new Encore wood stove. We couldn't figure out why our oven would rise to 600 degrees or more after putting a small piece of wood in it. Our wood is really dry, but we've never been able to adjust the temperature for slow, even burning with a damper and primary air. We bought another thermometer and found this Vermont casting was 100 degrees hotter. Our infrared thermometer was within 30 degrees of the new thermometer. The oven is now working as it should because they didn't think we had more than 650 degrees!
