Review on Uniware 2411 Stainless Steel Travel by Joyce Cain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect mug, the exact mug is 15 years old but someone put it in the dishwasher. This is an exact copy.

****** WILL LIFE FOREVER BUT CANNOT BE WASHED IN THE DISHWASHER**** This is the second one I've bought. I bought the first one 15 years ago (maybe more) as an impulse buy from Home Depot. I prefer stainless steel for my coffee over plastic. Actually for all my drinks. I don't know how I got that idea, but drinking out of plastic, even newer BPA-free material, is gross to me. I can taste any other liquid that was in it even after multiple washes. And microbes, oh microbes. Plastic is porous, so if I drink out of a plastic cup I think I'm drinking every germ it's ever been exposed to. If I were presented with review medical studies proving otherwise, I still wouldn't be able to convince the part of my brain that's plastic gross. As I said, this travel mug has been around for over 15 years. And the only reason it needs replacing is because a friend tried to help clean up the kitchen after dinner and put it in the dishwasher. I didn't get it in time. He had a few minor dents before he died, but nothing major. The old lady looked no more than 3 years old. The next morning, as I was unloading the dishwasher, I saw her there and my heart sank. I picked it up and heard the water trickle between layers and knew our days were numbered. I tried to hobble it a bit but the water leaked out at the bottom and didn't keep the hot coffee hot anymore. It had everything I wanted. Stainless steel inside, a sturdy handle (which, by the way, never needed tightening), a tight closure of the lid that didn't need to be screwed on, and best of all, it fits in my car's cup holder, which predates the cup by just a few years. I was sure I wouldn't find it again. From time to time I would search the stores for another one, but I could not find this particular model. Even when I found a listing of this model online I was skeptical. It looked the same, but what if they changed the production over the years. no Exactly the same cup. Certainly a bit shiny and less dented, but the lid seal was just as tight as the old one. Same strong grip. Jackpot! With a new cup, we chose the exact place where I and the old gray mare stayed. We've been living here for a few months now and nothing seems to have changed. We'll have at least 15 years together, or as many years before another friend sends her in the dishwasher with good intentions. was correct. Now that I know I'll take 1 or 2 more just in case.
