Perfect cuts on melamine laminate shelves

I had to cut some corner shelves for RTA melamine shelves to fit in a custom corner between other installed shelves. I'm a relative newbie to working with melamine laminate and wanted to make sure there weren't any cracks or chips. This saw blade, combined with the double cut method, produced perfect cuts as flawless as the factory saws. to cut along a line (3-11/16" for Mag77). First, I adjust the depth of the blade so that it only cuts through the top layer of melamine - about 1/32" to 1/16" deep a very low angle of the teeth to the cutting surface, which is key to avoiding chips and breakage. Then, after the cut, without changing the guide setting, I changed the depth of cut to the thickness of the rack plus half the height of the tooth - at on a 3/4" rack it was about 7/8 to 15/16". Because the tooth is no more than half that height, the large depth of cut produces the same shallow angle of the teeth relative to the other melamine surface, creating a Chipping and tearing on this part is avoided as the weight of the overhanging part will cause it to come loose as it nears the end of the second (full depth) cut and may result in a slight tear, as a temporary support for the cut off overhangs the part. Very happy with the blade and the result.
