I placed the rug inside of an edge-raised mat and that really helped in keeping the litter on the mat. Most of the litter I find right in front when she exits the litter box. Only occasionally will I find a few pieces outside my mat area. So for me it works. I like the color too because it matches the litter box. I live in the country so I pick it up and take it outside, give it a few shakes and cleaning is done.
