Review on Makita GA4530X 2 Inch Grinder Grinding by Joseph Morris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Takes punches and grinds on.

I have used this grinder for two full months grinding loose concrete from rebar with a Makita diamond blade and it has worked great. The dust was awful - like a sand storm in the Sahara desert, and every now and then I used an air compressor to dust off the instrument. I like this product much more than the old Black and Decker grinder I used (it broke from exertion). It had a paddle shifter, which I didn't like because it was too easy to accidentally press it. The Makita shifter is pushed up a little and then down and isn't prone to "random starts". It might be a little easier to accidentally flip to the off position, but I'd rather live with that. I also had the opportunity to use Makita's technical support - I found them helpful and flexible.

Pros
  • 4 lb advanced design to reduce operator fatigue
Cons
  • Doubtful
