Review on Trailer Valet Tongue Dolly Silver by Craig Sethuraman

IF THE WHEELS SPIN, CHANGE THE MOUNTING POSITION. TRAILER VALET CANNOT VIOLATE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS.

Many of the negative reviews relate to wheel slip and hill climbing. When I first installed my Trailer Valet, I had the same problem with wheels on a grassy lawn, but there is a 'fix' that solves the problem for me. The fault is not in the design but in the instructions. Here's the question: you can't argue with the laws of physics. So if you don't have enough nose weight, the wheels will of course spin. The instructions (printed so small you almost need a magnifying glass to read them - really annoying) state that you must mount the receiver cup high enough to allow the wheels to rotate into the storage position when you attach the hitch to your tractor have installed. . Wrong advice! If you are having problems with wheel slip, adjust the clutch as HIGHER and FURTHER FORWARD as possible. Then when you turn the wheels into position to move the trailer you need to lower the drawbar lower and the low/forward mounting position provides the most traction. This issue is especially important when you are jacking up the trailer. Incline AND the hitch (and hence the trailer servant) is at the top of the incline. As you start downhill, the hitch goes up (relative to level ground) and the weight of the tongue goes down. In some situations you will not be able to avoid this and in these cases the Travel Valet will not be able to work because you simply do not have enough tongue weight to create the necessary friction between the wheels and the ground. This happens earlier on slippery surfaces (grass, sand, wet paving stones, etc.). Conclusion: A good idea and apparently very well put together, but don't ask them to fight the laws of physics beyond belief. Path.
