The LCD reads normally when the scale is at or above eye level, but is almost impossible to read when looking at it. Revain's description says it comes with 2 AAA batteries. The one I received (the blue model) is for 3 AA batteries and they were NOT included so I deducted a star for that. Also, it seems to be working fine. It includes another tiny part not shown in the photo, a U-pin that goes through the threaded end of the shackle bolt after assembly to prevent it from coming loose. I made a sling out of belts and weighed myself with it. It says 176.3 lbs (repeated) and my Tanita HD-317 bathroom scale says 175.8 lbs. Tanita claims they are accurate to within 0.2 pounds. I don't have a calibrated reference mass, but at least they agree within 0.3%. It seems that kg are "native" units with a resolution of 0.1 kg. Pounds and Newtons are converted from this reading, so the reading changes in increments of approximately 0.2 pounds and 0.9 Newtons. When you turn it on, it will automatically reset to zero. So if it is switched on with load and then discharged, the reading will be negative.
