My late 2009 MacBook Pro was getting pretty sluggish with only 4GB of memory. After a quick look at a YouTube video, I was able to easily swap out the 2x2GB memory cards for these 2x4GB to increase the total storage to 8GB. I see a difference in the speed of programs after they are loaded into memory. The boot process is still a little sluggish, but it's probably more hard drive related. My wife had an iMac with the same 4GB memory issue. I wasn't expecting this, but I found out that their iMac has four slots as opposed to the two I have on my MacBook Pro. I then took my old 2x2GB memory cards and popped them into two free slots on their computer, increasing the capacity to 8GB. So in my particular situation I got two upgrades from 4GB to 8GB for the price of one. At $35 shipping it was a very good deal and the new memory worked perfectly.
