Waste of time and money

rubbish. When I got it my first use was on a regulated and metered power supply. Plugged in and turned on, it immediately tripped the 25 amp circuit breaker. I have no idea how the 12 amp fuse stated on the plug is supposed to work. No doubt this thing will blow car fuses the first time you use it. I ended up plugging the unit into a 40+ amp power supply, which allowed it to turn on. I then connected it to a power meter to see what happened. Now it could be turned on, drawing five amps with no load. Connecting the load was a challenge in itself. Computer power supplies (45W units) can cause the self-protection circuitry inside the unit to trip. I finally found a Dremel device to turn on. At low speed, the inverter draws about 10 amps. When accelerating the Dremel, the inverter immediately drew 25 amps and cut the power supply. Various devices within the power range limitation sometimes functioned normally and sometimes caused the inverter to go into some sort of protection mode and shut down. There was no rhyme or reason for when the device would or wouldn't work. It can charge the laptop once, and the next time you plug it in, the inverter will turn off. Conclusion: This inverter is scrap. I cut it up and saved the inside for another project. The individual components are worth more than their sum.

Pros
  • good assembly
Cons
  • sad packaging
