I have no formal training in electronics and I don't work in this industry. Therefore, I cannot make any claims at this level. I bought this mainly for connecting electric guitars and testing the output of pickups. Basically, I use two settings: 20 kΩ and a continuity meter. What I love most about it and didn't realize until I opened it up is that it comes with an extra set of pins that you can solder to anything. For myself I connected it to the 1/4" instrument cable output jack. This allows me to plug it straight into the instrument jack and check the pickups output without messing around with bare wires or removing covers from the guitar. Fair warning, if you need this for household wiring or car use don't buy it.according to the instructions it can handle a maximum of 10 amps and only a few seconds at a time.The circuit breakers in my house are rated 20 amps.each and I think my car battery has 850 starting amps and most fuses are 15s and 20s.
