Review on 🔌 Dorman 577-095 Fuel Filler Neck: Ideal Replacement for Chevrolet/GMC Models by James Edwards

Replacing my rusty fuel filler neck was a relatively easy task. This took 15 to 20 minutes.

Replacing my rusty fuel filler neck was a relatively easy task. It took 15-20 minutes from start to finish. It only requires the use of 2 tools that almost everyone has in their tool box: a flat head screwdriver to remove 2 hose clamps and a wrench to remove the bolts that secure the fuel filler neck to the body of my 2000 GMC Serria 1500. There is no need to drop the gas tank, remove the truck bed or lift the vehicle off the ground. The metal part of my fuel filler neck just behind the filler hole was so badly rusted that I couldn't fill up my truck. I ended up buying this fuel filler neck and hose combo. I removed 3 small screws behind the gas door on the outside of the truck that hold the metal filler neck in place. I then loosened 2 clamps and was able to easily separate the outer and inner hose from the rusty filler neck. Then I pulled the hose from the gas tank. I threw away the rusty fuel filler neck and inner tube. Then I installed the filler neck near the fuel filler flap, inserted the inner hose into the outer hose (saved earlier) and then into the gas tank, tightened the clamps on the gas tank and the gas filler neck, and finally fastened the gas tank neck. Fasten the filler to the truck body with three screws. I didn't have to jack up the truck, remove the gas tank, or remove the back of the truck. I could extend and loosen and tighten the clamps on either end just by feel. I took a photo for reference as I couldn't see the top of the gas tank.
