At first glance it looks like a solid lock. Sometimes it's a bit tricky because you don't always know if the lock is on or not. You need a lot of thread, otherwise it will spin through immediately even after it blocks. I accidentally dropped it in the garage and the locking mechanism fell out of the handle. There was no glue to hold it in place and I didn't want to add one so it wouldn't interfere with turning the key. I put it back on and it was tight but you can still pull it out. I'm sure if someone wants to try and break it down to get to my nest, it's very possible and maybe even easy. I worry about this a lot, but it's the only lock I've found to attach the jack to the hood mount, so I'll live with it.
