The PetriStor is designed for a gas stove. It worked great on my dual fuel Bosch. That being said I was initially a bit taken aback by the coating but in practice oh my god the waffles absolutely slipped off. The pattern of the waffles is crispy, crunchy, and when you squeeze the handles, the waffles are the perfect thickness. It even included a cheap wooden spatula which I wanted to throw away until I could use it - it turned out absolutely perfect in the end. I'm so glad this was included. This shape for waffle cones is very well thought out. The other reviewer who gave it one star because she fundamentally misunderstood that the product doesn't work on an electric stove and clearly didn't use it before posting a negative review is a nutcase. Recommend. Indeed highly recommended! Advantages: - Large diameter (9 inches)! Electrical Approx 6-7" - Not a bulky electrical device that takes up unwieldy storage - Perfect squares for sugar/waffle cones. Cons: - I think it's teflon coated. I would have preferred smooth aluminum but then again boy is it smooth. - It takes practice to use it properly. - The loop side will squeeze your wafer a little thinner than the handle side, but that's not a deal breaker. .- Definitely not dishwasher safe. But obviously handmade. Recipe (adapted from Lebovitz and Pudgefactor): 1/4 cup egg white (from 2 large eggs) 7 tbsp. l. Granulated sugar (85 g) 1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract (I also used a paste, I love vanilla beans) 1/8 tsp. Salt ("pinch") 2/3 tbsp. All-purpose flour (90 g) 2 tbsp. l. unsalted butter (30 g), melted and chilled 1/8 tsp. Cinnamon Instructions: 1. In a small bowl, beat the egg whites, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add the salt and half the flour, mix. Add the melted butter and the other half of the flour and mix until smooth. Lightly spray a waffle pan with cooking spray. Preheat the waffle iron (I used a slightly less than medium setting on a medium 14k BTU burner). When done (seemingly warm when you put your hand over it), spoon a little less than 2 tablespoons into the center. Close.3. Bake for about 1 minute 30 seconds; Flip and check the color of the waffle and adjust the cooking time accordingly. To make waffle shells, take two small shells: flip one shell, place a hot waffle straight from the pan on top, then flip the second shell as well and make a sandwich. Let the hot waffle harden for about 10 seconds in between.
