Originally rated 5 stars, now rated -5 stars. When I first bought them I was really impressed with their performance and dedicated a pair of lightweight hiking shoes to them. I walk 3-4 times a day on forest trails and open fields on various frozen surfaces. Worked for a week as advertised. Then the failure of the metal cross attached to the front side of the toe of the shoe caught the other boot, resulting in a fall, fracture and dislocation of the kneecap. I will now have to wait 6 weeks in a knee immobilizer and if I'm lucky I won't need surgery. I doubt my use would constitute abuse. I hope that my injury and experience will not be repeated by another buyer. Buyer Warning. For those or those users for whom this cross has not yet failed, please verify its integrity before use.
