Review on Fluval Canister Filter FX6 400 by Daphne Henry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing gear and technology

I have been keeping both freshwater and saltwater pools for about 25 years and Fluval has always been the best brand in the game. The FX6 has been on my wish list for years and I finally got my hands on it on Prime Day at a great price. I keep it in a 180 gallon aquarium with sandy substrate and mostly guppies swimming around. I neglected this tank for years because the rear filter was underperforming and water was not changed, so having this filter installed was quite frustrating. After a week he showed that it was strong enough to suck up debris from the bottom of almost the entire aquarium when the outlet nozzles created the appropriate flow, but soft enough not to suck up sand or tiny guppy babies swimming very close to the aquarium water absorption. The engine runs completely silent and almost vibration-free. For it to really work I have to look for power near the outlet pipes, I don't hear anything and I don't feel any vibrations in the hoses. I also don't have to worry about lifting buckets of water into the tank to raise the water level as the filter has a service port and included hose to suck new water straight out of the bucket for you at ground level - amazing and practical function. People with back problems, thank you very much! If you have any size aquarium, no matter what you keep in it, these filters are the way to go if you can afford them! You won't find anything better there.
