This is exactly what I expected. The letters are exactly the size I wanted (5/32) and they stamp whatever I want to stamp. I've tried them on thin mild steel, 0-1 annealed tool steel, aluminum bar, and aspen. I also tried them on an old chisel blade but as I expected they didn't leave any marks on the hardened steel at all. (A file won't even scratch properly hardened steel.) On softer steels and aluminum, I used a 3-pound hammer and a medium-strength hammer. Marked the steel perfectly when I found out how hard it was to hit. On wood I tried the same but found it difficult to hit the cube lightly enough so I switched to the 16oz Estwing with a light tap and it marked perfectly. annealed O1 tool steel, which I use to make wooden hand planer knives. If that's not enough for you, you don't need to use a hand-stamped stamp. You should invest in a punch press. I had no issues with the box as several other reviewers have reported. In fact, I haven't seen any of the issues that several reviewers have written about. My box was in perfect shape and reasonably well built. Looks like the photo in the product description. I even used stamps to put my initials on the top of the box so it's pretty durable! For any hand stamped die, it is necessary to find out how hard the die is to hit for different materials. If possible, it's a good idea to take a few test shots on a hidden area of the part to be stamped, or on a piece of the same material, each time you use the dies. Based on the reviews, it looks like the company has great customer service. But from what I've seen so far, I probably won't have to go to them. In fact, I will order other sizes of these brands.
