I think this is one of the best painting sets for beginners. I got this a few years ago when I started painting, I was dying to have ink sticks. The set also included a pencil and an eraser, which I really liked. The pencil is wonderful! This is one of the best pencils I've ever used, sadly I don't have it anymore as I lost it, although I've bought a set more than once to stock up on markers and the eraser is really good! It doesn't knead and only produces a small amount of flakes, which is always a bonus. The only way to get this pencil is to buy this set or something similar but I was able to find one, I think it was from Pentel. The same company makes excellent smooth lead as the usual cheap lead isn't that good even with such a good pencil. The markers are pretty good too! Very slim, this is a great set for beginners. It has the basics you need to get started, I don't use it anymore as I mostly do digital art or I need a set of pens in a variety of sizes (even smaller than these pens). I highly recommend this set, especially for beginners! I bought this as a Christmas present for a friend who is a new artist as I know how useful it can be. I might buy another just to use these markers again when I've used them. I pressed too hard and wore out the ink. Just follow carefully and you will be fine.
