I bought this monitor after doing some research but the reviews blew me away so I gave it a try. Connected and liked it. However, after about 40 days, a vertical red line appeared, stretching from the bottom of the screen all the way to the top. Called Amazon, customer service said they can't help me as it's been 30 days but they gave me HP tech support number. I thought I would find a call center in India and I was right. After talking to an Indian guy named Bob for 30 minutes, turning the monitor off and back on, unplugging the VGA cable and plugging it back in to make sure I couldn't see anything, he told me the monitor was damaged, no, really. He told me that they would send me an "like new" monitor and when I received it I would send them the damaged one. When I asked "Bob" why they didn't send me a "new new" monitor, he told me that was their policy. After demanding to speak to Bob's boss, I finally moved to America and spoke to Todd. He sent me return labels and a brand new monitor, hp2310m, which I was told was a replacement for the 2338. He looks almost identical and has a great picture. Kudos to HP and Todd for making me a happy customer and worth a 30 minute chat with Bob.
