Although it's a very funny story, it's also about greed and power.

Lucky You is a funny story by Carl Hiaasen. What else is new? But it's also a story of greed and power. JoLayne Lucks wins half of the Florida Lottery, a whopping $14 million. The other half, however, is won by Bodean James Gazzer, a low-IQ white supremacist. His sidekick, Chub, is also on the lower end of the IQ scale. Together they hatch a plan to take JoLayne's ticket. They beat them up believing they have the means to set up a well-armed militia. However, JoLayne is not going to just disappear. She teams up with reporter Tom Krome, who was sent by The Register to interview her to get her ticket back. Tom is having an affair with a judge's wife. Tom wants to divorce his own wife, but she's always on the road and his lawyer can't bring her the papers. The judge, who is having an affair with his two secretaries, sets in motion a plan to get rid of Tom Krome. Bodean and Chub hire the Skinhead Shiner and kidnap a Hooters waitress. That's one of their mistakes. Not going straight to Tallahassee and cashing in is the other. JoLayne and Tom track down the dimwitted thugs. Their solution is only possible in a novel by Carl Hiaasen.
