A bad fit can wear out your flex plate! (much more expensive!)

Updated Review: Now that I know more about starter motors, flex plates, how they are supposed to work etc, it is clear that this motor was not a good match for my 1992 F350. After constantly having to reassemble this motor and finding ways to keep it from moving in the bracket, I purchased a new starter motor which snapped into its bracket with seemingly no movement/play. The new starter fits snugly in the hole. Unfortunately in the last 6 months of grinding -> not turning I am now seeing the wear it has caused on my flexplate teeth as it keeps loosening. The new motor seems to work, but I can hear the flex plate wear from this motor when starting. Hopefully I won't get stuck if the flex plate stops at a particularly worn spot. Just take a look. So this supplier could claim that this part fits a 1992 Ford F350 and although it started with a lot of grinding, in this case it would be much better to buy a part that actually fits, with better workmanship. Lesson: If you hear a crunch when starting, buy a new motor as soon as possible as it will not fit and will do more damage the longer it is used. I'm pretty sure these motors are being resold under a different name (and clean ratings) after too many negative reviews have been posted for this brand - such is the ever-simmering online market that even AMZ can't properly control. Return the starter just in case if it gets stuck. ==== First check approx. 1 month after installation. Repaired the starter motor on a 1992 Ford truck. I had to readjust the mounting bolts a few times because the starter position was starting to slip. for multiple starts from the aisle. I finally nailed it to the gears by really tightening the bolts and they seem to hold up well for months. I don't know if this is related to this particular launcher (I've only tried one launcher), but I suspect any other option would have the same issues. Of course you'll need a variety of tool options to get to the mounting bolts, but that can be figured out before the new starter arrives.
